19 Best Tent Brands

    best tent brands

Tents are essential camping gear. They provide shelter from the elements, offer protection from bugs, and allow you to enjoy nature at its finest. There are hundreds of tent brands out there, but only 19 are truly worth buying.

Camping is a great way to get away from it all and reconnect with nature. If you want to experience the outdoors without spending too much time or money, then you should consider purchasing a tent. Tents come in various shapes and sizes, offering varying levels of comfort and convenience.

There are several things to look for when choosing a tent brand. First, you’ll want to choose a model that offers good value for your money. Second, you’ll want to ensure that the tent has enough room for everyone who wants to sleep inside. Third, you’ll want to check whether the tent comes with a warranty. Finally, you’ll want to make sure that the tent meets the requirements of the American Campground Association (ACA).

Mountain Safety Research (MSR), founded in 1969 by Seattle-area climber Larry Penberthy, is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality lightweight backpacking and expedition tents. MSR products are known for being durable, safe, comfortable, and easy to set up.

The company is dedicated to minimizing its environmental footprint through better materials, safer chemistry, and smarter packaging. For example, they use recycled plastic bottles for some parts of their tents, and they work closely with local artisans to develop custom fabrics.

In 2000, while living in Seattle, Bill Gamber began designing his first product—a lightweight poncho. He built it out of nylon ripstop fabric and sewed it up himself. After testing it out in the mountains around him, he realized there wasn’t anything like it on the market. So he set out to design something better.

Today, Big Agnes produces high-quality camping gear designed to meet the needs of those who want to travel light and fast. From their ultralight tents and sleeping bags to their durable hiking boots and clothing, Big Agnes offers products that are built to withstand harsh conditions and provide comfort and protection during extended outdoor adventures.

NEMO Equipment is named after the fictional captain of the submarine Nautilus from Jules Verne’s classic novel 20,000 leagues under the sea. This name choice reflects the company’s commitment to adventure and to providing quality equipment regardless of where you choose to camp.

Their tents are used by people around the globe for camping, mountaineering, climbing, fishing, hunting, kayaking, rafting, skiing, snowboarding, and more. In addition to being the best-selling brand of tents in the United States, NEMO is also known for producing some of the most innovative products in the industry. REI Co-Op

REI is a leading retailer in the outdoor industry. With over 700 locations across North America, REI offers everything from camping equipment to clothing. A few years ago, the founders of REI wanted to build something different, something that could change how people thought about buying outdoor gear. So they came up with the idea of a co-operative. Members pay a one-time fee of $30 to join, and it grants them access to all of their events and activities. This includes classes, camps, hikes, and even some special events like fly fishing trips.

The benefits don’t stop there though. You’ll also receive 10% off every purchase. And once you’re a member, you’ll never have to worry about paying full price again because memberships renew automatically each year.

The idea for Stone Glacier began in 2012 when Kurt Racicot, owner, and founder of the outdoor clothing company, went camping. He had always been interested in designing better gear for his own use, and he wanted to see what could happen if he turned his passion into a business.

Racicot knew that there was a gap in the market for lightweight, durable equipment for backpackers, hikers, campers, and climbers. After some research, he found that no one else was offering it.

In 2012, he launched Stone Glacier with a small team of people and a handful of tents. They quickly grew their customer base and expanded to include apparel, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and sleeping quilts, among other things.

Today, Stone Glacier is a leading manufacturer of high-quality, innovative, and functional backpacking gear. Their tents are used by thousands of outdoors enthusiasts each year.

Coleman has been helping people get outside for over 120 years. Their products are designed to help families enjoy nature together while still being comfortable enough for sleeping under the stars. In fact, Coleman is one of the most trusted names in outdoor gear — their stoves and lantern have been a go-to for campers since they were first introduced in 1914.

Today, Coleman continues to innovate, making big tents that fit up to eight people and small ones perfect for solo adventures. Whether it’s a tent for a weekend away or a full-blown RV, Coleman offers everything you need to explore the world around you.

Kelty began as a small backpack manufacturer in the 1950s under the name “The Original Backpack Company.” But over the years, it expanded beyond backpacks and now offers everything from tents to sleeping bags to lanterns.

In 2011, Kelty launched its camping division and introduced the Kelty T2 tent. This lightweight tent is designed specifically for those looking for a good deal. It weighs less than 15 pounds and features a double wall design that keeps you dry even during heavy rains.

Since then, Kelty has continued to expand its offerings. In 2016, it debuted the Kelty Rambler tent, which is a hybrid tent that combines both poles and guy ropes. These allow you to easily set up camp without having to use stakes, which can damage the ground.

Today, Kelty still offers the original T1 tent, which is perfect for one person or two couples. It is lighter than most tents and can fit inside a car trunk.

    Marmot

The Marmot brand was born out of necessity. In 1974, three friends – Steve Moseley, Jim Breen, and Bob Gaskins – set up shop in a small basement in San Francisco. They wanted to make quality sleeping bags for people who loved the outdoors. Over the next 30 years, Marmot became known for creating high-quality, lightweight, and durable products. Today, Marmot is one of the largest manufacturers of outdoor equipment in North America.

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, you know you’re getting great value from Alpine’s tents. Their tents come in several sizes and styles, including cabins, dome tents, tented shelters, and even one-man tents.

    The North Face

The North Face was originally a mountain climbing company, but over the years they became known for durable outerwear and super high-quality expedition gear. They’re a popular brand among climbers and outdoorsmen because of their durability and ability to withstand extreme conditions.

Their tents are a great example. If your needs include camping in high wind and/or heavy snowfall, The North Face has you covered. Their tents are designed to allow airflow while keeping out moisture and cold.

Mountaineers have long relied upon North Face’s gear to get to some of the remotest locations and climb the highest peaks in the world. I’ve been lucky enough to test out several pieces of equipment from The North Face and they always perform well in my adventures. Here are some of my favorite items:

    Black Diamond

The best camping gear isn’t always cheap. If you’re looking for something rugged and durable, there are many brands out there that offer high-quality products at reasonable prices. One such brand is Black Diamond. Founded in 1989, this outdoor equipment manufacturer offers everything from tents and sleeping bags to cookware and clothing.

Their most popular product is probably their line of lightweight, ultralightweight, and expedition tents. These tents are known for being extremely tough and durable. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes, including dome tents, A-frame tents, tarpaulin tents, and even hammock tents.

In addition to tents, Black Diamond also makes bivy sacks and other accessories like rain covers, ground pads, and stoves. There are also several different lines of sleeping bags, including the Black Diamond Tentsafe line, which uses innovative technology to keep cold air away from your body while keeping heat inside.

    Roofnest

    Roofnest tents
    Roofnest

Roofnest is probably the less well-known brand of the three on our list, but it’s still worth checking out. This company makes some really cool and unique tents. Their tents are designed specifically for people looking for something different and unique.

They make three different types of tents: The Sparrow, the Falcon, and The Condor. All of their tents come with a rain fly, so you don’t have to worry about getting wet during inclement weather.

Each tent features a steel frame and a canvas roof. To deploy the tent, simply pull down the pole and release the latch. Once it’s fully opened, you’ll find a nice mesh wall and a solid floor underneath.

The best part of the tent is definitely the view. You’ll find yourself staring up at the sky, admiring the stars while enjoying a beautiful night breeze. These aren’t just pretty tents; they’re practical too. Because there’s no fabric covering the entire tent, it stays cooler inside than a typical tent.

    Thule Tepui

    Thule tents
    Thule

Thule is a household gear brand when it comes to accessories. Their products include bike racks, cross bars, and roof boxes. It makes sense for them to integrate some of their products into the Thule rooftop tent system. These rooftop tents are incredibly convenient and easy to use.

The Thule Tepui model is one of several rooftop camping tents offered by Thule. It features a large mesh window that allows you to see out while keeping the elements out. This particular model is designed to fit most vehicles. It includes a rain fly and a ground cloth. You simply pull up the tent, unfold the frame, and set up the tent. There are even storage pockets inside the tent where you can store things like shoes, jackets, etc. If you want to keep the tent clean, there is a vinyl liner included.

This is a great option for anyone looking for a quality rooftop tent. While it doesn’t offer much in terms of style, it does provide excellent protection against weather conditions.

    Sea-to-Summit

    Sea-to-Summit

Sea-to-Summit isn’t just another brand trying to enter the tent market. They’re a name you know and trust. Their camping accessories are among the highest quality around. They’ve got two tents that I think are great, but my favorite is the Altoids. It’s semi-freestanding, meaning you don’t have to stake it down as a regular freestanding tent does. You just push up on it and let gravity do the rest. It’s very easy to set up and take down, and it’s super lightweight.

I’m also a huge fan of the style of their poles. The aluminum ones are lightweight and extremely strong. There’s no plastic here. And the fact that they’re handcrafted makes them even better. They also make some of the best pot holders and plates I’ve ever seen. Their quality is unmatched.

    Yakima

Yakima is one of those companies that you don’t hear about unless you’re actively looking for it. But once you find out about them, you’ll probably want to add some of their products to your shopping cart.

The company makes everything from car accessories to outdoor gear, including a variety of tents. And now, they’ve added a new product category to their lineup: rooftop camping tents.

The tents come in two sizes — a 3-person model that measures 5 feet wide x 10 feet long, and a 4-person model that measures 7 feet wide x 14 feet long. Both models feature a full enclosure with zip-up windows, making them perfect for use during inclement weather.

    Mountain Hardwear

Mountain Hardwear is a young and high-end tent brand from Columbia. In 1993, this brand just took 3 days to create the first one used for staying overnight on Mount Everest. After that, it has become well known in the outdoor market. Its logo is like a peanut.

In 2000, Mountain Hardwear became a subsidiary of North Face. And in 2004, North Face bought out Mountain Hardwear. At present, Mountain Hardwear is a joint venture between Columbia Sportswear Company and North Face Incorporated.

    Hilleberg

    Hilleberg

Hilleberg is a Swedish tent brand born in 1971. It was founded by Lars Hilleberg, a man who had been known as a craftsman of tent making. He wanted to make a tent that could stand up to harsh weather conditions.

In 1976, he began his journey of creating a tent that could withstand extreme temperatures. In 1979, he launched his first product, the Ultralight Tent. And since then, it has been a success story for this brand.

The Ultralight Tent is still being sold today. With its lightweight structure, you can easily carry it around. However, there are many people who do not like the Ultralight Tent because it does not look very attractive.

This is why Hilleberg has developed other types of tents such as the Hilleberg Trespa, Hilleberg Kvarnen, and Hilleberg Nallo. These tents have different designs and structures, but they all aim to provide a comfortable experience to campers.

    Terra Nova

    Terra Nova
    Terra Nova

In 2003, it introduced the concept of “ultralight”, which uses the latest technology and materials to produce lightweight tents. This product line includes three major categories: ultralight, midweight and heavyweight.

The ultra-light tents are mainly used for camping, hiking, climbing, mountaineering, etc., while midweight and heavyweight tents are designed for general outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, mountain biking, etc.

In 2004, Terra Nova entered the North American market. Currently, there are about 50 stores in the United States and Canada.

    Ozark
