Toyota has a strong reputation for building reliable cars. They offer a wide variety of models that appeal to families, including affordable sedans, crossover SUVs, and even trucks. There are plenty of hybrid and electric vehicles, too. And while there are plenty of SUV choices, there are also some great compact cars like the Corolla, Camry, Avalon, Prius, RAV4, Highlander Hybrid, Tacoma, and Tundra.
There are also a number of high-quality hybrids, such as the Prius V, Mirai, and FCHV. These include some of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the market today. Plus, there are several different types of EVs, including the i-MiEV, e-Palette, and the upcoming i-Road.
And for those looking for something bigger, there are three full-size pickup truck offerings: the Tacoma, Hilux, and Tundra, along with the popular Sequoia.
The Japanese automaker is known for making reliable vehicles, and it continues to deliver on that promise. Its latest offering is the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage, which is now in its fourth generation. The compact SUV/crossover offers three trims: SE, Sport, and GT Line.

The automaker earned several honors for its high-quality interiors, including the 2017 Best Interior Award for the Sonata sedan and 2016 Best In Class Award for the Elantra compact car. Both models scored well in our tests, too. The Sonata had a comfortable ride, while the Elantra felt solid and responsive.
The automaker also took home the 2017 Best New Technology Award for its new infotainment system, which we really liked. We found it easy to use and intuitive, especially since it was designed around smartphone integration. And the optional Apple CarPlay interface allowed us to easily access Siri without having to take out our phones.
Other notable wins include the 2017 Best Overall Design Award for the Santa Fe crossover, the 2017 Best Safety Pick+ award for the Tucson midsize SUV, and the 2017 Best Hybrid/Electric Vehicle award for the Kona Electric.
Fiat is an Italian company founded in 1899. They’ve had some ups and downs over the years, but they’re still here today because they know how to make great cars. Their current lineup includes everything from sedans to SUVs to crossovers to even electric vehicles. In fact, there are six different Fiat models you can choose from in North America alone.
The Fiat 500 is probably the best-known model in the entire lineup. Introduced in 1998, it continues to sell well across the globe. Today, the 500 is still one of the best compact cars on the market. If you want something small and affordable, look no further than the Fiat 500.

The 2020 Ford Bronco is a seven-passenger sport utility vehicle that is built to take you anywhere. With three rows of seating, there is plenty of room inside for up to eight passengers. Honda has been around since 1948, making it one of America’s longest-standing automakers. But it didn’t start out as a carmaker. In fact, it began life as a motorcycle manufacturer. In 1946, Honda founder Soichiro Honda opened his first dealership in Tokyo. He sold motorcycles under the name “Nakajima,” but he soon realized there was room for growth.
In 1949, Honda introduced the CB750 Motorcycle, followed by the NS500 Sports bike in 1953. By 1955, the Honda 600cc four-cylinder had become popular enough that Honda added three other models to its lineup.
The Honda 1000cc Four became the most successful model in Japan, selling over 300,000 units annually. Honda continued to grow throughout the 1960s, adding the Honda 1300cc Four, the Honda 2000cc Six, and the Honda 3000cc Seven.
By 1970, Honda had grown into a major force in the Japanese automotive industry. Today, Honda continues to expand, offering vehicles ranging from small scooters to large SUVs. The Honda Fit was among the first subcompact sedans to hit American roads in 2002, and today, it still ranks as one of the best-selling compact cars in the United States.

The Impreza, Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback all received a “Best Resale Value” award, while the Forester, Outback, and 3-Row Ascent all received a “5-Year Cost To Own” award. The upcoming Solterra EVSUV even made an appearance as part of the “10 Best SUVs Worth Waiting for.”

And the new 3-row, 7-passenger Grand Cherokee L was found to be road trip worthy with two awards. One of those was for the best off-roading vehicle.

The TLX offers a wide range of options including 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, park assist, reverse sensing auto braking, and much more. A second-generation 3.5L V6 engine powers the TLX.
Lexus is the only luxury carmaker on our list, earning 10 total awards across five categories. From the NX crossover to the UX premium sedan, we found that the Japanese automaker excels at making cars that are both stylish and comfortable.
The UX is a perfect example of how Lexus combines style and function. Its cabin is spacious enough for four adults, and the seats offer plenty of support for long drives. A rearview camera is standard, while adaptive cruise control and lane keep assisting come as optional extras. An 8.0-inch touchscreen display sits in front of the driver, allowing easy access to navigation functions and apps like Spotify. There’s even a USB port located next to the steering wheel.
In addition to safety features such as automatic emergency braking and blind spot monitoring, the UX also offers a host of convenience features. For instance, there’s a heated steering wheel, power-folding mirrors, a heated leather seat, and a backup cam.
As far as resale value goes, the UX scored high marks for both reliability and quality. We gave the UX a Best Buy rating because of its outstanding fuel efficiency, which helped make up for some of the extra cost. In fact, you could save $1,500 over the course of a decade if you bought the UX used rather than new.
Mazda is new to this year’s list, also with 10 total wins. Although not technically a luxury car, Mazda pushes into the luxury category with quiet interiors adorned in rich materials. Its cars also put the emphasis on the driver, making the experience extremely enjoyable — something that helps explain why it won five awards just for being some of the best cars you can buy. The MX-5 Miata received four awards, including Best Car for Drivers.
The Skyactiv-X concept car took home three awards, while the Mazda2 compact sedan earned one award. In addition, the Mazda3 midsize sedan picked up a pair of awards for Most Innovative Design and Best Interior/Exterior Design.
Audi has been around since 1925, but it wasn’t until recently that the German automaker started producing luxury vehicles. It’s still relatively young compared to other automakers, but it’s already established itself as an industry leader. Audi’s success comes from its ability to create well-designed products that are reliable and efficient.
We found that the A4 and A6 sedans were among the most popular choices among our readers, so we’re giving them two awards each. The A8L AWD sports coupe was named the Best Luxury Sports Sedan, while the A7 Sportback was named Best Premium Compact SUV.
The average reliability rating for Nissan vehicles is 4 out of 5 stars. This includes the 2017–2018 Altima sedan, Maxima, Sentra, Rogue, and Murano crossover. The 2018–2019 model year brings some changes to the lineup. For example, the Rogue Sport no longer uses a CVT transmission; it now uses a six-speed automatic. Also, the Rogue returns to being offered solely in front-wheel drive.
SUV lovers will find plenty to love about the popular Pathfinder. Its rugged exterior makes it perfect for off-roading, while its interior offers ample space for passengers and cargo. And the Rogue Sport—which replaces the former Xterra—is a compact crossover that’s fun to drive and features a powerful V6 engine.
